September 14, 2018 at Government House, IPAC Manitoba in partnership with her Honour Janice Filmon celebrated an outstanding career in public administration. Lieutenant Governor Filmon presented Dr. Joanne Keselman the Manitoba Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration
This award is presented annually to a public sector practitioner whose career exhibits the highest standard of excellence, dedication and accomplishment. The award seeks to provide recognition to an outstanding individual and to underscore the need for highly skilled creative people in all sectors of public service.
This year’s recipient, Dr. Joanne Keselman, has had a remarkable career. Of note, she held three of the four vice president positions at the University of Manitoba, a first for anyone in Canada. She is also the only person in Canada to have sat on the governing bodies of both SSHRC (the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council) and NSERC (the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council) again, the only person in Canada to hold both positions. She was equally a member of the Premier’s economic advisory council and a board member of RESOLVE, an organization that works to address domestic violence.
Dr. Keselman exemplifies leadership and exceptional contribution over time, impact on others outside her organization, as well as public sector values of integrity and respect. Congratulations! Félicitations! Dr Joanne Keselman.
Please note that we will be accepting nominations shortly for the 2019 LG awards. Details will be forthcoming.
